Mixtape 2

So in late 2015 I released a limited edition set titled Mixtape 1, which was a collection of some collage tracks I created prior to creating my first ‘solo’ album, Slowcation.

I was planning on doing something similar each year, but time/full releases/etc got in the way… not a bad thing at all, but a thing nonetheless!

It took a while, but I’ve finally compiled together material for Mixtape 2, which is a set of outtakes and other music made between the recording process of Slowcation and my second album Fantasy League.

In other news, I’ve got a few shows coming up here, there and possibly everywhere in the next few months. Check the performances page for more info! Select Australian dates throughout the year and possibly a European trip or two in the next while?

Reserve League

Fantasy League is (almost) a year old!

Here’s Reserve League, an EP of b-sides from that era.

Available only as a download from google drive. Not distributing this one widely (I had it on soundcloud but took it down, there might be another home for some of the tracks at some point…) but feel free to share with your friends!

Reconfiguring summer

Hi! So I’ve played a few shows this year, they’ve mostly been slightly different than the norm in a few ways but all thoroughly enjoyable.

It has been too hot to think/rehearse/reconfigure/write too much this year, but with the final day of summer being the first day in a month where it hasn’t hit 30C, it’s time to take a little time out and reconfigure/reevaluate/update my live ideas and patches with some new ideas.

TL;DR – BRB, live shows in a month or two.

In the meantime, here’s the only full set I remembered to record last year. Fortunately it was a set I was really happy with/show I had a lovely time at!

2016, what a year! Most of 2016 should get in the bin, but I had a pretty fantastic year so wanted to thank/tag a lot of people! Will edit this as more comes to mind but here’s a start!

I released my second solo album on Room40’s Someone Good imprint, thanks heaps to Lawrence for all of the hard work and support and to Ed/Dense for helping bring some extra EU love! Really appreciate the blog/print/radio support from Australia and abroad too. Particular shoutout to stations like 4ZZZ, RTRFM 92.1, 2ser FM – Real Radio, FBi Radio, Triple R – 3RRR 102.7FM, 3PBS, WFMU, KAOS Olympia 89.3 FM, Asheville FM and *so* many others who I adore and appreciate!

Also super enjoyable to create a third album at Ems Stockholm(massive thanks to Australia Council for the Arts and Arts Queenslandfor funding support) and back home in Brisbane… it is done and we’ll see what happens in 2017!

It was so excellent to share lineups (in chronological order!) with gudrun gut, Deradoorian, Sunbeam Sound Machine, Daniel Bachman, Chris Rainier, Lisa Busby, Katastrophia, Lumisokea, Shawn O’Sullivan, N1L, Wixtes, John Chantler, Jason Lescalleet, Adam Sussman/Tim Green, Ghost Notes, The Sea Shall Not Have Them, Death Tourism, Sensaround, FEET TEETH, Dr Greg, Alexander Woakes, Pushing Buttonz, Cass McCombs.

It was excellent to play these shows because they were put together by amazing bookers/promoters/venues/etc (in chronological order!) Room40, Institute of Modern Art, Valve Records, the zoo, Le Bourg, Two Gentlemen, Café OTO, Sonic Masala, Madame Claude Berlin, Klappfon, HeK – Haus der elektronischen Künste Basel, Plunge, Sotto La Sacrestia, Monash University Museum of Art, Sound Spaces, Avantwhatever, The Bearded Lady, The Triffid, ÆTHER sessions, Woolly Mammoth, HellosQuare recordings, The Milk Factory, BIGSOUND, Press Club, Sulaco, The Avalon Miami, Mistletone. Planning on visiting more cities in more countries next year as well as some return visits with any luck… so we’ll see how it all goes.

Most of all, massive love and thanks to my absolute favourite lady Frith, my wonderful and supportive family (Mum, Dad, Courtney) and friends at home and everywhere! Also to everyone who supported me in various ways by coming along to shows, listening, chatting, etc. There’s so much great music and so many wonderful people out there, so it is a pleasure to be able to take up some of your time.

See you in 2017!

Brisbane, Transit Centre

transitedit4

Hello! I have a new single out Friday. A re-working of an old track of mine and one of my favourite tracks to play live, I recorded it during my residency in Stockholm in May. It doesn’t quite fit with my (almost finished!) next album, but I thought I’d share it as I’m delighted with how it turned out. If you’re inclined, ahead of Friday (when it is available on all major digital sites) you can have a cheeky advance listen/download/watch via the below links. More information on the single below.

Brisbane, Transit Centre is a non-album single by Brisbane, Australia avant-country musician Andrew Tuttle, recorded during a residency at the renowned Elektronmusikstudion EMS studio facility in Stockholm in May 2016. Whilst creating his third studio album (to be released in 2017), Tuttle recorded this version of Brisbane, Transit Centre; a long standing staple of Tuttle’s live performances and previously released in an alternate form on his debut EP 4064 (2013).

* Recorded, edited and mixed by Andrew Tuttle at EMS Elektronmusikstudion, Stockholm; May 2016.
* Mastered by Lawrence English at 158, Brisbane; June 2016.
* Andrew Tuttle: Buchla 200 synthesiser, 5 string banjo, signal processing.

* This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.
* This project is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.

I’m alive awake alert enthusiastic! / A Pizza Hut, Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken and a Pizza Hut! / If you’re happy and you know it refresh this page?

Hi. G’day. Hi. Has been a little while since I’ve posted. I’ve been spending the last month or so working on a short film score, trying to catch up on some sleep, and rearranging the studio a bit. Film should be out by end of year, I’m taking a bit of time off over the holiday period for proper rest, studio is looking good.

Anyway! I’m playing a show this Sunday in Brisbane and a few more between now and the end of the year before I develop a new set. I’ve really been enjoying playing recently and I’m going to spend a bit of time over summer making a few little changes to it.

Also, Fantasy League is 7 months old now. Time flies!

Also had a fun time playing bass in my friend Adam’s obsolete software punk/new wave band Future Shocks. Fun shows at The Haunt (with Scraps, Bent, Extra Foxx; ‘tasteful’ nudes on the walls) and Trainspotters (with Witch Hats, Thigh Master, Deck In The Pit; Bledisloe Cup on the walls until it was good and ready to finish it seemed?) and it was an absolute ball playing music with Adam, Ili, Scotty and Scott. Until next time that we’re all on the same continent!

Transitory Adaptations

Hello! It was my birthday the other day, since it has been such a lovely year so far I thought I’d give a present to all of you! That’s how it works, right?

Below is some information on Transitory Adaptations, a free download mixtape. Have a listen, and if you’re in Brisbane come say hi at upcoming shows on July 10 (The Bearded Lady, supporting Jason Lescalleet for an Avantwhatever festival sideshow), August 7 (The Triffid, 3x sets!), August 28 (Aether sessions @ Woolly Mammoth), September 1 (The Milk Factory, supporting Sensaround) and at BIGSOUND festival on September 7?

Transitory Adaptations is a ‘mixtape’ companion of Fantasy League (emporium.room40.org/products/567267-andrew-tuttle-fantasy-league), Brisbane musician Andrew Tuttle’s (www.andrewtuttle.com.au) second full-length album.

Released in March 2016 on Room40’s Someone Good imprint, Fantasy League is an instrumental sonic convergence of improvisation and composition; and electronic and acoustic tones performed on instrumentation including computer, banjo, synthesiser and acoustic guitar.

Transitory Adaptations threads together improvisations recorded, edited and mixed by Tuttle whilst touring Europe in April 2016, prior to a residency at Elektronmusikstudion EMS in Stockholm.

An alternate version of Transitory Adaptations was broadcast on Resonance Extra’s ‘Out From Under’ program in May 2016.
