Halfway Mark

Firstly, apologies for the silence on this site. Has been an enjoyable year so far, mostly working behind the scenes. Have had the pleasure to play some fantastic shows this year though – a couple of shows supporting Calexico in Brisbane and Byron Bay, another couple in Brisbane supporting Chuck Johnson and These Guy; before a bit of a break until June for shows at MONA in Hobart and at Melbourne Recital Centre supporting Hauschka.

I’ve mostly been working on a new album though! It is finished and I can’t wait to share more details about it later this year. For now though, check out my live page for info on a few special performances coming up over the next few months.

Happy New Year!

To start the year off, here’s some recent archival music. I contributed an exclusive live excerpt for Soundscapes and Subsequence Radio’s most recent compilation. My track is above, check out the whole compilation!

Soundscapes is a monthly performance night showcasing a broad range of music, started by Chris Finnigan in 2016, joined by Reuben Ingall in 2017. It’s on the first Thursday of each month at Smiths Alternative in Canberra.

Subsequence is a weekly electronic+/experimental music radio show produced by Reuben Ingall for 2XXFM, and heard around Australia via the Community Radio Network.

Proceeds from online sales go into the Soundscapes kitty – used to cover printing costs, and guarantee artist-fees in the event of low-turnout Soundscapes nights through the year.

2018 thanks

What a fun Europe tour to end a really enjoyable year! Thanks heaps to everyone who came along early to shows, it was lovely playing to nice rooms and attentive audiences. Great to make some new friends in lots of different cities! Also a massive thanks to Ryley Walker and his band (Andrew Scott Young, Brian Sulpizio, Frank Rosaly, Quin Kirchner), tour manager and management de force Peter Symes and Ben Wileman, Nikita Lavrinenko and Erin Coleman for all of the booking support and to all the local and national promoters for their home city knowledge and insight.

After finishing up for the year for my own performances, it was a thrill to finish up the year proper by sitting in on a song during Matmos’ set at Unsound Adelaide last week. What an enjoyable time!

One thing I didn’t do much this year was to play in Brisbane much. I felt like a good break was needed  but I’m very much looking forward to bringing in the new year with a hometown show at The Junk Bar. Room40 and I are bringing amazing pedal steel guitarist Chuck Johnson to Brisbane, which will be a great show. Presale tickets available now.

Okay thanks again, time for a little year end break and see you in 2019!

Europe 2018

Hello! Here’s an updated list of my Europe shows next month, supporting Ryley Walker. More info here. I’ll have merchandise, anecdotes, and questions about your city if you live somewhere near the above and come say hi at a show?

Site Revisit: Aulus-Les-Bains

Andrew Tuttle – Site Revisit – Aulus-les-Bains from Andrew Tuttle on Vimeo.

Hello! To celebrate the last days of September, I’ve made public a video that I created whilst in residence at CAMP in the French Pyrenees back in April. I wasn’t sure whether to share it, as it was a ‘time and place’ piece, but I’m really proud of how it turned out so watch and share?

Location: Aulus-Les-Bains (France)
Date: April 2018
Video: Aulus-Les-Bains (town, restaurant, CAMP, putt putt course) and Cascade d’Ars (waterfall)
Audio: Music created whilst in residence at CAMP (campfr.com) and field recordings (recorded on Zoom h4n)
Render: 1280 x 720.m4v

I wrote, recorded and edited the music and video for this edition of ‘Site Revisit’ whilst doing a residency at CAMP (campfr.com) from 4-8 April, 2018. The intention was to capture some of the compositional ideas that were coming to mind when in the French Pyrenees, capturing my own walking/hiking experiences, and a cheeky nod to some late night dance night parties that residents had.

Thanks to James and Sarah at CAMP, facilitator Eli Keszler, everyone else on the course and to Australia Council for the Arts for their funding contribution.

Hello Europe! I’m heading back in your cold seasons/my hot seasons for a bunch of shows supporting my friend Ryley Walker. It’ll be a nice time! Look at the poster for more details.

I’ve also got a couple of free dates (17/18 November) for Swiss/northern Italian shows – contact me if you’d like to host me in your city, I’d love to come visit!

New album out today!

Friends, I am so excited that my new self-titled album is out today.

It took me a while to make this one, including a few iterations, but I’m so delighted it’s finally out there. Massive thanks to Lawrence English for putting it out through Someone Good/Room40, Traianos and Bryan for art and photography, to EMS for letting me record part of it there, to Chris/Charlie/Dina/Joel for recording music for it, to Frith for being the best all the time, to my family for being so supportive – and to you!

There’s heaps of different ways you can listen to it, including all the streaming and download sites. If you like it, maybe you can share it with your friends?

I recommend buying it directly from the label at the amazing Room40 store!
