All Ears compilation

I’ve got a track on the new compilation from Perth’s excellent All Ears. Free download, I’ve contributed the track Fallen Powerlines (originally from my 4064 EP), lots of great artists on the album.

2014 Factoids Vol. 1

Whoops! Even with all of these posts, I forgot to link to this mix from the Smalltown Romance blog (run by fantastic guitarist Yair Yona), which features a track from my 4064 EP. Give the mix a listen, I’ve been digging it!

Working on some new music too… trying to finish some releases. It is that optimistic time of the year where I do the will I/won’t I play shows on other continents dance… I’ve got an invite for the US in late September, trying to figure out options to make a tour happen. Get in touch if you’ve got any ideas.

Also, if you’re like me and shamefully spend too much time on social media and put news on there instead of, well, websites… I’m on Facebook (music related) and Twitter (occasionally on topic?). I’m 99% sure those sites are on my links page, but who knows.

Fun-u-ary

Well, 2014 has been fun so far! After a nice easy start to the year, including some nice little accolades (as per previous posts) and Australia winning The Ashes; I played my first show last Sunday, supporting Matmos (USA) and Always in Melbourne. Really enjoyable show, was happy with my set, Always was superb, and Matmos were stunning too! I was fortunate to be traveling around the country with Drew/Martin of Matmos as their tour manager/dropbear keeper-away-er; with performances at Sydney Festival and MONA FOMA as well as the Melbourne club show. Was involved with the first track of each Matmos show too which was super enjoyable.

Here’s a photo of my part of the show (credit to thevine.com.au and Prudence Upton!). There’s some reviews here, here, here and here of the Sydney show.

I was fortunate enough the whole week to experience a wide range of exciting music, which put me in a great place for the show on Sunday, and for future live sets this year. Nothing on the horizon right now, working on some music and preparing for some releases in the next few months to tour around (see previous posts).

In other news, here’s a nice review by Cyclic Defrost of Venation, a compilation by Brisbane label Duskdarter which I have an exclusive track on. Free download, give it a go!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I’m already super excited about 2014, feeling super positive about it all. I had an enjoyable end to 2013, I hope you did too. A few bits and pieces of news to start the year off.

Releases

I’ve got a track on Venation, a new compilation from Brisbane’s Duskdarter label. This is a free releases, and includes an exclusive track of mine titled Glider, recorded in October 2013. The compilation also includes tracks from Feet Teeth, Kahl Monticone, Marisa Allen (Bremen Town Musician), Cedie Janson (Naked Maja) and more! I’ve really been enjoying listening to it.

In other news, I’ll have a new cassette edition, titled Infinite Spring, out on the A Guide To Saints label in the next couple of months. I’ve also contributed some electronics/guitar/voice (!) to a track off the forthcoming Bremen Town Musician album, which I understand will be getting a physical release on Duskdarter in the next few months.

Shows

Just the one this month, but it should be a great one. The good folks at Mistletone have invited me to support Matmos (USA) at their Melbourne show on Sunday 19 January. Really looking forward to this show! More info here.

I’ll also likely do a short East Coast tour in late March for Infinite Spring, open to offers so please do get in touch if you’re interested in hosting a show.

My track Brisbane (from the 4064 EP and also from the spin-off Brisbane, Rezoned EP) came in at #67 in 4ZZZ FM‘s Hot 100 countdown, which was a nice little surprise. Thanks, Zed!
