Seems like a slow news month, but I guess it hasn’t been looking back. Weird! As per the posts below, I recorded some improvised tracks with Feet Teeth earlier this month, released two tracks on compilations, and played a show with Prince Rama from the USA last week. Coming up over the next few days is a live recording session for the ongoing Cassette Project series, and a live show in Brisbane. Really looking forward to this show, supporting Marihiko Hara from Japan and Maputo from Portugal/Sydney for the launch of the Memoirs label/touring series. Ben from Memoirs also runs The General Store gallery in Sydney which I’ve enjoyed playing previous. Also supporting is Mooshim from Brisbane (including Paul from Feet Teeth – see this post turned out nicely!). More info here.
After this month, I think there’s just the one more show for the year at this point, and then time to finish off other projects and get to work on some holiday time and an album!
I’ve got tracks on two new compilations, both worth checking out!
1) A noisy synth jam, Single Shoes Of History, on the new Vexed Axis compilation Volume Two. Free download!
2) A live take of my track Brisbane (originally on my 4064 EP), on the new subscriber compilation for Sideways Through Sound radio. Only available for STS subscribers during 2SER radiothon (cheap to subscribe!).
Hi! After a nice break from preparing for shows or anything music making in September, time to get back into it. I’ve got two shows in Brisbane this month, check out the live page for more information. Taking it fairly easy for the rest of the year, so do come along if you can! Slowly working on some new recordings too.
Also spent some time last night doing some recording with Feet Teeth at a swish studio at the Conservatorium of Music in Brisbane. Have shared quite a few lineups with them over the years, and collaborated live at their album launch earlier this year – so it was great to spend some time recording! Bashed out a few improvisations on synth and computer with the core Feet Teeth band (Joel Saunders – trumpet/computer/electronics, Kate Thomas – commodore64 synth/marimba, Paul Young – drum kit/percussion) and fellow ring-ins Kahl Monticone (electric guitar) and Luke McCallum (trumpet). Interested to hear what comes of it all – had a really enjoyable time!
Also, as always, for anyone wanting freelance grantwriting info, click here – I’m in the process of developing a separate website for this kind of thing… so stay tuned!
